HOH Fest Recap #2 (DETAILS)

Allright, I spent all last week recoupin and I finnaly feel normal again. So now i can give a more accurate description of what went down at the Harvest of Hope Fest. I'll keep it short becouse I don't think anybody reads this thing anyway. We got into town early Thursday evening and it worked out good becouse we got first pick for our booth location. That means we set up directly in front of Stage 1 aka the main stage, this means thatwe we're in the heart of all the action and got to see some rad shows without even having to leave our chairs if we needed a beer just had to lean back reach into the cooler and grab one it's the only way to see a show if you ask me. So I'll do a quick day by day and then take a look at the pics we got.

Friday = Indi day: We had the pleasure of having to sit thru the glorified music geek known as Girl Talk... if you like this thing he's got going on then thats your thing but personally it just wasn't cutting for any of us. If you don't know about it than here's the just of it. Some guy from pitsburg with an extensive mp3 collection of 80's & 90's pop hits go's on stage and plays with his Itunes and invite a bunch of people on drugs to come on stage and dance around. Owell with 30 minutes left of the day and not being able to take any more Envouge/Billy Idol remixes we decided to close up the tent and charge it to stage 3 for Tim Barrys set. Tim was all hoped up and killing it he played all the good songs and then when his time was up he came and did a song in the crowd. It was a fun first day

Saturday = Good Punk Rock Day: We didn't even leave the booth everyband that was playing the fest that I wanted to see played on Stage 1 Paint it black kicked it off and then it was one after another Valient Thor was awsome their getting better and tighter every time I see them and ofcourse they put on a rad stage show, Bouncing Souls played some old classics i would've liked to hear more of em' "PLAY NEUROTIC" Bad Brains the band was right on point but as soon as the vocal came in H.R. ruined it I think he was on some srius drugs that night when he came out on stage he was talking like the gay guy from Family Guy... they really let me down and pissed of alot of old schoolers, Propaghandi finished out the day with a sick set they killed it playing a whole range there music and when the time was p and the sound was shut off they just kept playing they played like 3 songs with no lights no mics and no sound just there amps

Sunday = Hip Hop, Monotonix, some Alt Country & leftovers: The Monotonix are 3 harry dudes from Israel that play in the crowd litterly the set up the drums and amps in the crowd and play old stlye fast metal, personally I would never listen to them in my truck or at home but if there ever playing a show I will be there it's hard to describe but at one point the entire band was playing on top of the crowd. around mid day a couple of snuck away and went over to stage 3 to check out How Dare You, Ninja Gun, & Whiskey & Co. all 3 bands we're right on point and a real nice break from the booth. After seeing them live I am big fan of Ninja Gun if ya haven't checked em out yet you really should. Near the end KRS 1 came out and dropped it hard the knowledge and the music it was a damm good show homeboys still going strong.

Thats about all I gotts to say, we wrapped up the event in true U.B.C. fashion with lots of beer and chaos making our presence known I think we we're the last booth to shut down Sunday night.
Thanks to all the crew who helped Claire, Nasty Nate, Brad, Elisa, Brando, Nico, Carl, Alex, Sam and everybody that bought a shirt
If there's a Harvest of Hope Fest next year U.B.C. will be there... I guarantee it!

oh yeah also we got like 180 signatures for the fare wages petition and rased a little cash for the CIW

Thanks,
Jay

Nates got a quick video of part of the Monotonix set that I'll get on here soon
